The Best and Worst Dressed of the Oscars 2016

Ok, I admit, I have been sharpening my tongue all weekend. But I was so disappointed with such a blah fashion performance at the last night's Oscars. It was the safe fashion of the Golden Globes again but with a different statue.

The Best Dressed of the Oscars 2016
Charlize Theron in Dior Haute Couture and Harry Winston diamonds
Once Charlize Theron stepped on the red carpet, everyone else was doomed. Her partnership with Dior is paying off every single time.

Brie Larson in Gucci
Brie Larson – Cobalt blue looks good with a gold statuette. Loved the simple hairstyle.

Cate Blanchett in Armani Prive and Tiffany & Co diamonds.
Cate Blanchett redeemed herself after the Golden Globes fringe fiasco and went for a Goddess of Spring. Bravo!

Margot Robbie in Tom Ford and The Row bag
If you didn't get the Oscar, you could just take Margot Robbie home. Loved the plunging neckline with long sleeves (even the shoulder pads). But then it's Tom Ford. And look, the Olsen Twins finally made it to the Oscars! Well, their bag did. I kind of want it.

Olivia Munn in Stella McCartney
Olivia Munn showed that less is always more. Her lipstick was also orange but two shades darker and in cooler tone. So yes, you can do orange and orange.

Sofia Vergara in Marchesa
Sofia Vergara – the Bombshell. When you got it, flaunt it! DIfferent hairstyle for her this year, a welcome departure.

Daisy Ridley in Chanel Haute Couture and diamonds and Christian Louboutin shoes
Daisy Ridley – she's young, she's cute, and she wields a lightsaber. Was this her first Oscars? Love the dress, Chanel suits her, however she needs to learn how to work it. She was a bit awkward posing for the press.

Lady Gaga in Brandon Maxwell
Lady Gaga – those are pants! She knows how to dress properly for an occasion. I bet she was the only woman that was able to sit for three and half hours in comfort.

Jacob Tremblay
I wish all nine year olds dressed this way. Highlights of Jacob Tremblay's night: BB-8 rolling on stage and Sofia Vergara.

Tina Fey in Versace
Unlike her BFF, Tina Fey knows that a classic silhouette is always the ultimate choice.

The Worst Dressed of the Oscars 2016
Jennifer Lawrence in Dior
Nominated for a role playing a woman older than herself, Jennifer Lawrence decided to remind everyone that she is still young by looking 12 on the red carpet. And Dior must have been unwilling to alter a one-and-only dress, even for JLaw, so she looked much bigger than she actually is. But I bet she was at least able to eat more than one slider at the Governor's Ball. Compared to the Golden Globes, this is a step down.

Kate Winslet in Ralph Lauren
Kate Winslet, aka the Shiny Sausage (said with a British accent). Add to that the nerd glasses she chooses to wear to read the teleprompter. Contacts honey, contacts.

Whoopi Goldberg
Whoopi Goldberg  – the woman with the dragon tatoo – must have raided Oprah's closet this year. And then let a giant spider hitch a ride on her hand.

Rooney Mara in Givenchy Haute Cauture
Rooney Mara. Smile, you're on camera! And please go out and spend time in the sun. Just ten minutes, please! Of all the lacy options Givenchy walked down the runway for two seasons in the row, this one should have been left behind on a rack somewhere.

Rachel McAdams in August Getty Atelier
Maybe if this one was done in the right weight fabric and properly fitted it might have worked. I see that Rachel McAdams chose not to lay down across the long seat in her stretch limo like everyone else. "Big mistake, big. Huge!"

Amy Poehler in Andrew GN
Amy Poehler. Honey, the Met Gala is always the first Monday in May, this is the Oscars. Please call Tina Fey and ask who her stylist is.

Heidi Klum in Marchesa
Heidi Klum. She was hot... she was cold... she couldn't make up her mind... And a poor granny in Florida is missing her curtains.

Kerry Washington in Versace
Maybe Kerry Washington is a huge fan of the atrocious 50 Shades and is auditioning for a part? Or maybe she possesses some super powers we don't know about it and wanted to reveal her inner Wonder Woman. Either way, a miss.

Sophie Turner in Galvan for Opening Ceremony X Swarovski
Sophie Turner. The 90's bridesmaids called, they want their dress back. Actually, my own bridesmaids wore this same exact color. In late 90's. And where are the Swarovski crystals if this is a collaboration with the brand?

Off to rest my eyes until The Met Gala by watching The Martian. Burnt orange is very soothing. Ciao!
